
Born Chester S. Niemann, April 27, 1941, Chet
earned his BM-Ed degree from the University of Georgia and his MA-Ed
from Murray State University. He taught music education (general
music and band) in public and private schools in grades K-12, and
at the university level from 1964 to 2004. During that time he served
in the US Army from 1964 to 1969 and was assigned to teach part
time at the US Government Middle/High School during his European
tour.
While stationed in SE
Asia, he was the director of the Globe Radio Theater Symphony and
Chorus in Taiwan. He has also been associated with professional
and semi-professional music groups in churches in Europe, Taiwan,
Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida, in which he has been either a performing
member, director, or both.
He has conducted the
Ars-Nova Wind Symphony (Nancy, France), Vero Beach Operetta Showcase
Company (FL), Daytona Beach Choral Society, and is currently with
the DeLand Little Symphony.
